Meals & Stay Included: A New Indian Railways’ Train Will Cover South India For INR 950 A Day!

The information in this post might be outdated

We’ve always been at our wits’ end trying to book tickets through the Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation {IRCTC} but every once in a while, things start to look up. This piece of news we read yesterday is exactly that – the silver lining in the dark cloud.

According to the HT report and this IRCTC page, we hear that their winter special tour bus will cover seven places in South India over 12 days. The best part? The entire trip including three vegetarian meals, the train tickets and stay {at dorms} will cost INR 11,340.

The train will take off from Chandigarh on December 1 and include pit-stops to places like Madurai, Kovalam, Trivandrum, Rameshwaram, Kanyakumari, Tirupati and Tiruchirapalli. The Bharat Darshan special tour bus will take the visitors to South India’s historical sites and age-old temples like Meenakshi Temple, Kamakshi Temple and more. You can check out the complete itinerary here and perhaps finally book that budget trip that would otherwise never have seen the light of the day.
