New in Town | Look What We Found At Masaba's Store

The information in this post might be outdated

One of our favourite things about high-end designers, is when they decide to launch a low-end version of their collection, aimed at being more affordable and accessible; we're then finally in the running to own one of their coveted signature pieces. And just that happened on a mid-week stroll through Mehar Chand Market. We found ourselves back at Masaba's flagship store, ready to buy nothing, when a certain new collection caught our fancy. Not only because it was stunning, but because the price tag had obviously been through a recent lesson in humility.

Allow us the privilege of introducing you to Masaba Lite, Masaba's version of a cheaper, pret line, where the Lite refers to both fabric and pricing. Pop colors, eclectic prints and avant grade styles still rule Lite's aesthetic, but the focus is predominantly on western wear, with a line of Kurtis to appease every kind of audience. Her iconic hand prints and cows print fabrics have steadily faded from her racks, replaced by city skylines, sanskrit texts and alphabets, bold patterns and Chandragupta prints. As part of her Lite series, she's also doing nightwear, comprised of Ganjis with different prints {we wouldn't wear these to sleep, if you ask us}. All clothing is made of cottons and linens, essentially summer fabrics, and include dresses, skirts, jumpsuits, summer blazers and crop tops. Stand out Lite Pieces? This one would have to go to the skyline printed black dungarees, and the skyline printed linen trouser and blazer combo. The crop tops are also worthy investments, and there's a wide range of wardrobe separates available as well! Even Liter than Lite, the Masaba accessories! She's now retailing scarves, men's {or women's} ties, iPhone covers, and socks. All the accessories follow her signature design sensibility, but the vintage camera print phone cover and pineapple printed socks are the only ones that made it back home with us. We were told the Lite collection currently in stores is limited, but new pieces keep coming in, so keep a lookout.

Although her regular line is relatively cheaper than most big designers, we appreciate her effort at designing and retailing a line of ready to wear separates and accessories. It's always exciting when a favourite designer label becomes accessible and easy to own.

Price: The accessories start at INR 600, the crop tops at INR 4,000 and the blazers at INR 5,000.

Where: Masaba Flagship Store, 103, Mehar Chand Market, Lodi Colony
