10 Offbeat Things To Do In Jaipur When Not At The Lit Fest

The information in this post might be outdated

It's no secret that most of us Delhi folks are gonna be heading to Jaipur for the Lit Fest. We're going all out to make sure that you have something or the other to do when you're not attending author sessions. Here's 10 of them.

Shop At Krishna Textiles

Located amidst the jewellery shops of Johari Bazar, this is one shop where you can find saris, household linens, high-quality pashmina, etc. What's cool is that they export their stuff for brands like Hermes and others all across Europe and Japan {so you know you're getting good quality stuff}.

Also, they have on-call tailors that take your measurements and then deliver the stitched dress to your hotel room the very next day {so cool, right?}.

Chill At Steam Lounge & Bar

If you're looking to spend a quiet evening post all the Lit Fest hub dub then why not check out this quirky lounge bar in Rambhagh Palace? It has been set up to look like a colonial-era railway station complete with train bogies {choo choo} and a platform outside.

You can choose to sit either inside the bogie or outside on the platform where they've set up tables and chairs.

Price: INR 2,800 for two

Head out for an early morning tour of Jaipur on the best mode of transportation you can get - bicycles. There are groups that organise three-hour tours of the city, but if you have an extra day to spend then why not go for one of the whole-day cycling tours to areas outside the city?

Check out Art of Bicycle Trips for the day tours.

They keep hosting exhibitions over there and you'll love the paintings and artwork on display.

We all love playing in the snow {admit it, you do too}. So when you're not at the Lit Fest adulting it out over books, why not head to Snowplanet and go crazy chucking snowballs at people and skiing down a hill? It's super fun and is definitely on our list of things to do in Jaipur.

This one will give you the most amazing views of the entire city of Jaipur and we suggest you go here at night to see the city under lights from the top. Although the food isn't something you'll remember it for but, oh that view!. Head here after a day well spent at the Lit Fest.

Grab Some Ice Cream At Saras Parlour

A definite hit amongst the Jaipur crowd, the parlour serves up ice cream starting at INR 6 {your eyes don't deceive you}. You can even go crazy on shakes and the paneer pakoras. If you're feeling adventurous try their camel milk. Yay for ice creams!

One of the many eco-zones in the city, Kapoor Chandra Mulish Smriti Van is one of the finest places in Jaipur in terms of natural diversity. You can sit and relax there for a few hours if you find some time off from the fest. A little peace and quiet is always wanted, we say.

Listen To Music & Shop At Teatro Dhora

If you're in the mood for a little bit of last minute shopping, why not check out Teatro? They have a super quirky collection in terms of clothing. What's even cooler is that during the Fest they're hosting some cool brands from Naushad Ali, Nicobar, Anomaly, Anuj Bhutani and more.

They're even hosting small music gigs to make your shopping more relaxed.
