From a lazy backbencher, Ansal Plaza’s is now making its way to being an overachiever with one experimental restaurant after another. The most recent one to catch our fancy has been Orza, a tastefully designed fine dine that serves food across Central Asia.

Earthenware Jars Full Of Nostalgia

Inspired by the cultural intermixing that’s influenced India’s culture in so many ways, Orza focuses on food like few other places do.

The folks behind this brand spent months travelling across Turkey, Persia, Kandhar, Kashmir and Awadh to study culinary traditions and sniff out the most telling spices of these regions, so they could interpret it in an Indian context. So, think of these as authentic recipes with a unique, Indian twist.

Everything that made it to the table from the tasting menu has been memorable. The non-vegetarian loved the Mutton Shorpa and Kashmiri Machli with pulao. The sheermal roti paired beautifully with Awadhi Paneer. We’d probably skip the watermelon and feta salad, because we’re used to being fed this combination at every new cafe that we find ourselves at. Also, the Subz Gullar kebab with sweet potato is mushy and cheesy, so it’s a fitting replacement for the salad.

Keeping It Sweet & Simple

Having raved about the food, we’ve got to say that the cocktails were stars in their own right. By being potent minus the accompanying sweet, they had us sipping till the last drop. Don’t leave without checking out their Spicy Mary with jalapenos.

All this subtly-flavoured food is in sync with the no-fuss decor as well. Pops of electric blue bring out the beauty of quaint, earthenware pots and pans.

So, We're Saying...

Give your dal makhani and butter chicken obsessed taste buds a change, and treat them to their Baklava – it’s really going to sweep you off your feet.
