The information in this post might be outdated

It’s that time of the year again, when celebrations are in the air, and dyed-in-the-wool Bengalis step out in all their finery and celebrate with song, dance, great food and collective bonhomie. For all those planning to indulge in the festivities Bong-style, here is a selection of pandals for you to soak in the spirit of the season.

Sushant Lok 1

One of the oldest pujas in this part of the city, 2017 marks the 18th year for this committee. Revel in the glory of giant deities, some serious dance competitions and of course incredible food {think crisp chops, Kolkata style rolls and Mutton Gugni!}

Sector 56

Organized by the Bangiya Parishad Gurgaon, this is celebration of epic proportions, touted to be one of the largest in NCR! Key highlights include recreating Kolkata’s iconic Prinsep Ghat, and one of the tallest idols of Goddess Durga in the region, standing tall at a whopping 18 feet!

Maruti Vihar

This puja promises something very different – with the focus being on the beauty of Bengal, it showcases lesser known sights and places in the state, as well as unique folk performances and art forms. Music lovers should head here on Sept 29 when Kolkata-based rock band Cactus performs live here.

DLF Phase 1

Nestled deep into the tony environs of Phase 1, this largely members-only gala features a very culturally rich programme starring plays by children, modern Bengali songs and, of course, the iconic Dhanuchi Naach. Sample festive treats across stalls, but befriend a member if you want to truly savour and enjoy this one.

South City-2

The Dakshin Gurgaon Durga Puja committee organizes this festive gathering that is resplendent with performances, magical idols, giant rides for children and incredible food. Hog on the artery-busting but delicious Mughlai Parantha, and get a fish chop if you want a lighter treat.

Palam Vihar

Known as the Gurgaon Kali Bari Pujo, this is another old timer that has been around for 18 years, and is the only place in Gurgaon that also boasts of a Goddess Kali temple. A hub for all socio-cultural activities, swing by for a traditional look and feel and, of course, greasy and very addictive pandal snacking.
