Headquartered in the city of Jammu, Paperbaag is run by two incredible women who primarily aim to get India's exquisite local craft and resources recognized globally. Simultaneously, they are also working towards building labour-intensive products as a way of providing opportunities for local artisans, especially women. But these were just two of the gazillion reasons why we love them.
We were under the sway of PaperBaag's off-beat, handpainted wooden art coasters and wall hangings. Our favourite house-elf Dobby (Potterheads, where you at?), the wonderful Cherry Blossoms, adorable pooches and more - these wooden pieces are painted using watercolours and oil. And are just wonderful to look at. But that's not it, these folks use dead waste wood (which is otherwise burnt) and transform them into stunning pieces of art. They also create human and animal portraits. A great way to honour your loyal buddies, don't you think?
At PaperBaag, you can also shop for handcrafted art prints, mini hand-painted artworks and diaries. Most of which are also customizable. These products range from INR 250 to INR 10,000 depending on the level of customization and the kind of product you wish to purchase.
