Ten-Second Takeaway

A pizzeria that is a favourite for many in the city, Pizza Express brings a mix of summery drinks and distinctive dishes to their new summer menu. And we are loving it.

Your Summer Recharge

The menu offers five refreshing drinks, that are the yummiest way to recharge your body after a day in the summer sun. We absolutely loved the Molto Berry, which is an apple juice blend with a hint of lemon, topped with lots of ice. The Tre Latteria Shake, which is a three dairy blend with bubble gum syrup, milk, cream and vanilla bean gelato, is well balanced and not overly sweet.

If you enjoy the basics, the Cafe Cioccolata is for you. Creamy, smooth and full of chocolate, it is a blend of their in-house chocolate fudge cake and vanilla bean gelato with a single shot of espresso.

Meat Overload

If you're a vegetarian, this one’s not for you! The menu only has non-vegetarian options such as lamb, chicken and prawn.

We started with the Lamb Polpette {savoury meatballs baked in a tangy Pomodoro sauce, garnished with basil and parsley and served with warm dough sticks} which was well cooked and portioned perfectly as a starter.

Next up, we tried the Hawaiian ‘PizzaExpress’ Pizza, which was different from generic Hawaiian pizza as it replaces pineapple chunks with a savoury sweet pineapple chutney. The super-thin crust pizza was topped with onion and bits of crisps and salty ham. The perfect mix.

We also tried the Linguine Cajun Gambero {a creamy and spicy preparation of linguine with prawns, tossed in cajun sauce, mixed grilled peppers, sun-dried tomatoes and cajun seasoning} which didn’t really impress. It wasn’t the flavour that drew us away though, the pasta was under-cooked and broke the balance of the otherwise brilliantly made dish.

So, We’re Thinking…

A few fixes here and there and the menu would be perfect. It delivers on taste and the overall theme, but could use some vegetarian options as well.
