What Makes It Awesome

A pottery studio hidden in the lanes of Aya Nagar, Naveen Chhaya is the perfect place for people who want to de-stress or take up a new hobby. Wheel and hand-built pottery, clay modelling, mural making, and glazing are some of the many things you can opt for here.

If you're someone who expects a fancy-looking studio with air conditioning and the comfiest of sofas, Naveen Chhaya is not for you. But if a massive, matka-like cool warehouse with experienced pottery artists and the smell of wet earth is more like your jam, you'll love this studio.

Run by an incredible ceramic artist, Aniruddh Sagar (who has also worked at the Sanskriti Kendra), Naveen Chhaya is a pottery studio where you can learn everything from slab work, wheel and hand-built pottery to sculpture-making and glazing. While they offer two and three-month courses with classes thrice a week and even a weekend-only option, busy bees stuck at work or college can even opt for their 10-day course or the single three-hour class.

If you have a cafe or a store and require stunning customised ceramics, Aniruddh's happy to take bulk orders too.

Price: Starting at INR 1,200/person for a one and a half-hour trial class; INR 10,000 and INR 12k (approx.) for a two and three-month course, respectively (classes thrice a week/weekends). INR 5,000 (approx.) for eight classes in a month, and INR 6,000 (approx.) for 12 classes a month.

What Could Be Better

Even though the studio's a 2-minute walk from the Arjan Garh metro station, we really wish it was centrally-accessible. Naveen Chhaya is located in a semi-rural part of Aya Nagar, so expect kaccha roads and a few buffaloes on the way too.

It could also get hot here during the months of May/June.

Pro-Tip

Naveen Chhaya has two studios, one in Hauz Khas where the classes happen every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and one in Ghittorni where they happen on the rest of the days.
