Whatever said and done, there have been a lot of good things that came out of this time of uncertainty. Time with family, baking bread, planting herbs, growing microgreens, everyone has found that one thing they never did before and then done it! For a lot of people, it's been about cooking, whether it was lack of help or extra time on their hands, everyone seems to be cooking! I certainly have, not just for work but at home, all meals and that too for the five of us and it's not been all that easy! From all the peeling and chopping to planning every meal, it can be both physically and mentally exhausting and then this trend happened, or in a sense, it came back, DIY kits, for the uninitiated - Do It Yourself kits. Some call it a fad, I call it, Fun! Imagine a fully stocked box that helps you put together a meal in no time, where every ingredient is peeled, chopped and portioned and all it needs is a stovetop and assembly. I tried a few but the food wasn't all that great, to be honest till I chanced upon Knock Knock, which incidentally has a hotel connection, perhaps why we ended up loving everything we made with their kits!

A subsidiary of Park Inn By Radisson, Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi, has created a unique DIY meal box where each curated box features an easy-to-create recipe and everything you need to create it, pat down to the cooking medium and even salt. As I found out more, I was informed that all the raw materials are responsibly sourced, sanitized and carefully packaged at Park Inn by Radisson, which was evident when we opened the box and each recipe card is easy-to-follow and carefully details not just the list of ingredients but also step-by-step instructions on how to cook the dish! All the recipes and instructions are available in both English and Hindi which makes it more inclusive and they’re also planning to launch a subscription model soon where customers can order from minimum 5 boxes a month to a box or more every day.

We tried the Peking Style Roast Chicken, complete with the pancakes and amazing Hoisin Sauce, we added a mushroom version as well and found the quantity to be larger than what's expected of a starter. The meats were fresh and the pancakes were perfect, we had a gourmet-quality dish ready in under 20 minutes. We also tried the Chicken Dumplings in Sichuan Chilli Oil, that was addictive stuff, all we had to do was boil the dumplings, drain and add to the chilli oil, it was perfect Netflix food, we will be ordering that again! For our main course we tried the New York Cart Style Chicken over Rice which was very Arabesque and very delicious, I would say it was enough for 2 people. Just checked and they've added new dishes, so I'm going to try the Pulled Raan in a Soft Taco Shell, the Chicken Fajita Burrito Bowl and the Slow-Cooked BBQ Pulled Pork, can't wait for the weekend to sit back and toss our meal together! My only suggestion to them would be to add desserts, so the meal is complete.
