From Shahs To Jats | The Shahpur Jat Walk with Delhi Dallying and LBBD

The information in this post might be outdated

Shahpur Jat. The lively eclectic jungle of creativity and art is the “other village”, the design and lifestyle hamlet, the not very loud yet happening cousin of Hauz khas village, whose understated charm lies in it’s food, fashion, historic and art offerings.

Explore the changing hues of this urban village, through Shahpur Jat’s meandering streets, surrounded by splashes of colour, past tailoring sweatshops and hole-in-the-wall vendors selling beads and baubles, unpainted brick buildings, overhanging wires and the numerous chaiwallahs serving hot chai {interesting snippet of how they started}, to understand the co-existing cosmos of cultures. It’s hard to imagine that this urban village traces its roots back to 1303, when Alaudin Khilji founded the second city of Delhi, Siri.

Walk with us on the 12th of April, as we delve into the stories of how the village came to be as it is, learn about the omnipresent street art and the tales behind it, and take you through our hand-picked, favourite stores of design and lifestyle. With LBBD moving home there, you’ll have many reasons to keep coming back!
