Beyond Text is a concept that takes kids beyond just text knowledge and opens their world to literature, music, poetry, drama and films through mini weekend sessions.

What's Been Happening?

Over the last few months, Beyond Text sessions have included subjects from TS Eliot to The Beatles. The last 4 weekend sessions, in fact, have been ‘Eliot & his Cats’ on TS Eliot’s poetry, ‘A Walk Down Abbey Road’ on The Beatles, ‘Down Wonderland’ on Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and ‘To Be or Not To Be 101’ on the life & times of William Shakespeare.

Held in Bombay and Gurgaon both, these successfully combine music and literature so participants can garner a larger world view and expand on their interests. The sessions are concise and interactive, so kids can ask a lot of questions too.

What’s In Store?

The upcoming workshop delves into the world of Rock & Roll music which is definitely more evolved than what kids are exposed to these days, in terms of lyrics. The idea behind the workshop is to let children negotiate with the genre, hear its story, songs, styles and learn about the some of the great artists who championed it, and have fun while doing it.

The two-day session will be held on Sept 15 – 16 from 4.30pm – 6 pm in Nirvana Country for children between the ages of 8 – 13 years. The cost is INR 1,200 and, since the maximum number of participants is 10, it’s a good idea to register soon.

To register, email participant details to beyondbombay@gmail.com or call 9717001898.

So, We're Saying...

Let kids explore the world of art, literature and music with their peers and find more things to be interested in.
