Jealous of Lodhi Art District and its gorgeous murals? Starting with Arjan Garh metro station, Gurgaon is set to get an arty makeover as well.

St+art India’s The Art Stations Project is transforming transit spaces into walk-in art galleries. In collaboration with the Singapore High Commission, this organisation is making art more accessible by bringing it to every single person who uses the Delhi Metro {and if the rush at Rajiv Chowk metro station is proof, that’s a whole lot of people}.

Artists from Singapore, Mexico and India scaled the exterior walls of Arjan Garh metro station, located on the Mehrauli-Gurgaon road, and unleashed their crazy, quirky design ideas. The result? It’s pretty spectacular and will definitely make taking the metro a bit more fun.

A Cultural Collaboration

A four-person art project, the murals on the walls of this metro station are a beautiful intermingling of three different cultures and aesthetic standpoints. Sam Lo and Soph O, from Singapore, painted the kingfisher and myna birds, in bright, bold colours, since they’re commonly found in both India and Singapore.

Mexican artist Senkoe, weaves his artwork through the Singaporeans’ designs, off-setting it with dramatic representations of Delhi’s architecture. The last piece in this artistic puzzle is Pune-based artist Nilesh who paints stories – of people, cities and spaces.
