What Is It?

With a dual focus to spread awareness about marginalised localities and communities in Delhi, as well as come up with creative solutions to engage with and uplift these communities, Barsati is a series of talks geared to bring about social change.

Who Is It For?

If you’re looking to discover people and ideas that are generating positive impact in rarely-explored parts of the city, you’re welcome to attend a talk at this barsati in Pamposh Enclave. Artists, musicians, lawyers or poets – come be inspired by change-makers who are using innovative ways to improve the lives of undeserved sections of society.

Why Should I Go For It?

The talks are super interesting and for reference, check out the live stream of the first Barsati event in 2017 conducted by Jigyasa Labroo, the founder of Artists for Social Change India. Jigyasa took audience members through her project ‘Slam Out Loud’ where slam poetry is used to facilitate the development of leadership, mindfulness and creative expression in children from less-privileged parts of the country.

Other themes have included creating communities through music led by the founder of Music Basti as well as Broadcasting Better Cities that was conducted by Arti Jaiman, the Station Director of a community radio station in Gurgaon and turned the spotlight on those voices that get left out of the mainstream media narrative.

Anything Else?

If, by the end of the talk, you’re looking for ways to get involved, you can also sign up to volunteer with the speaker/speaker’s organisation.
