Calling out to artists and art appreciators! St.Art Delhi is back, and has a whole line of events and programmes they’re putting out for Delhi, some of which include workshops. This coming week, St.Art Delhi will present a Stencil Workshop and a Sign Painting Workshop with some of today’s leading street artists.

The Stencil Workshop will be presented by Joao Samina. Samina is originally from Lisbon, Portugal. When he was 14, he started spreading stickers around the streets, which served as his entry into the world of street art. As a self-taught artist, whose renowned stencil techniques left a big impression on Portugal’s street art scene, Samina will conduct a workshop here in Delhi and teach participants how to create their own stencils as well as unique T-shirt designs.

The Sign Painting Workshop will be presented by sign painting legend Kafeel, and Creative Director of St.Art India Foundation and Founder of hanpaintedtype.com, Hanif Kureshi. Kafeel is originally from Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, but has lived in Delhi for almost 20 years. Having never been to school, he moved to Delhi to become a street painter, establishing himself in Old Delhi. Hanif Kureshi was born in the small town of Talaja, Gujarat and always knew he wanted to be a sign painter. Even though the digital world has taken over and left fewer hanpainted signs around, Hanif found a way to keep the tradition alive through the innovative website handpainted.com. These two accomplished artists will give a presentation to participants on the long history of sign painting, as a lead up to the participants sketching a concept and creating their own signboard.

All materials, paints, etc. will be provided for by St.Art Delhi. Let out your creative streak and learn about street art this weekend. There are only 18 seats per workshop so book fast!
