Under The Banyan Tree On A Full Moon Night (yes, that’s the name of the night concert!), is an attempt at recreating a musical evening from the past. Part nostalgic, part intimate and a refreshing take on a music gig, this one’s going to be the final gig of the series. In keeping with the earlier evenings, it will bring two musical geniuses together on Sunday (June 24). Bonus: The Qutub Minar will constantly be in the background, and you’ll be surrounded by greenery. Plus, there’ll be folk and qawwalis.
This Sunday, Enjoy Sufi Music Under The Moon With The Qutub Minar In Full View
What Is It?
Who Is It For?
Anyone who misses listening to music in smaller groups with fellow music lovers. Or, folks who complain about Delhi not having enough regional folk performances and Sufi, or even those who are willing to make a trip to eat a specially curated food spread. The organisers’ (Teamwork Arts) intention has been pure and simple: To promote Hindustani Music Series and believe us, they’ve done a stellar job at conceptualising these evenings.
Why Should I Go For It?
You’ll be sitting under a beautiful banyan tree and listening to Harpreet (Sufi Folk) and Mir Mukhtiyar Ali (Folk Qawwal). The musical renditions will be supplemented with a discussion with the folks from Jagran Film Festival (you’re going to hear Sudhir Mishra… will you pass that?!).
The last edition was magical as it featured handpicked artists including Rajasthani folk vocalist Anwar Khan Manganiyar, Hindustani classical vocalist Vidhi Sharma, and well-known sarangi player Ahsan Ali Ensemble. And, going by the magic we saw unfold, we are pretty sure that the finale will be spectacular.
P.S. The first two editions of the gig have been a total sell-out. So, this is your last chance really.
