This Homestay In The Hills Has Traditional Architecture, Fresh Meals & Fun Activities

What Makes It Awesome

Nestled in village Bandal, around the Great Himalayan National Park, Kudrat is a homestay that’ll treat you to nature as well as luxury. The property has four rooms, an attic suite, a dining area, a living room, a kitchen and a library (reading in the calm of nature is rejuvenating). Interestingly, the house is constructed in a traditional Himachali manner — called Kath Kuni — that uses natural stones that are dug from the same land and Deodar (Cedar wood). Oh, and the bedrooms are themed and named after the four animals that are spotted around the area most often — Een (Flying Squirrel), Shaahi (Porcupine), Shiyal (Fox), Kakkar (Barking Deer) and Braag (Leopard) — how cool. They’ve also got a fixed menu that has freshly prepared Indian and continental food. The view and the feel of having a meal on the patio has to be unparalleled here. They even organise activities like village walks, riverside picnics, trekking, camping, fishing, rock climbing and motorcycle rides. It takes about 11 hours to reach there from Delhi directly or you could take a break in Chandigarh. Although they recommend a straight drive.

What Could Be Better

The pricing is not exactly on the affordable side, with room tariffs starting at INR 7,500 per night — but we hear that the experience is definitely worth it.
