What Is It?

The sixth edition of the popular North East Festival, Delhi’s largest cultural festival in terms of footfall and variety returns to its home at the IGNCA (Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts), Janpath. The festival, which will be held from October 26 to October 28, 2018, promises to be a colourful extravaganza, greater spectacle, bringing together the magnificent North East under one forum.    
 
The festival is getting bigger and bigger every year. Its popularity is due to its enormous entertainment value, and the unique and refreshing cultural content has well and truly caught the attention of the people.
 
This year will see a special seminar ‘NRC – Untruth, Half-Truth, and Truth’, featuring some of the most noteworthy voices from the region, leaders from various tribes and communities, media houses, and intellectuals, who will delve deep into the National Register for Citizens and its significance.
 
One of the main attraction of North East Festival is the spectacular presentation of cuisines from the region. This year, there will be more than 40 food stalls which will present varieties of North Eastern food from Naga, Manipur, Assamese, Arunachali, Sikkimese, Mizo, Tripura, and Meghalaya. The region's food is famous for the herbs and their health quotient, which will be showcased in plenty. Another attraction will be a presentation of organic fruits and vegetables of the region. 
 
The festival will present three evenings of vibrant fashion in which the most talented designers from the region such as Yana Ngoba, Barsha Aditya Singh,  Rupert Lynrah, Escape Engmoiya, Sanghamitra Phukon, Bompie Riram, Jagrity Phukan, and Khrielasier Liezietsu will showcase their creations with 30 of best North Eastern models. A special Assam Handloom Exhibition will be held and an amazing fashion exhibition by the fashion photographers of North East.
 
An art exhibition will present talented artists of the region creating a canvas of colours in the festival. The photography exhibition will depict tourist attractions of North East India apart from major festivals and tribes. The daytime carnival will feature beautiful dance forms such as Hojagiri dance of Tripura, Naga Warrior dance, Bamboo (Cheraw) dance, and many more.
 
The main North East Festival stage will be rocking as always. The line-up for this year are talented artists including rapper Khasi Bloodz, Classical Rock band Still Waters, Naga folk band Tetseo Sisters, rocking Arunachali folk band Omak Komut Collective, Pune based popular rock band Aswekeepsearching, Assamese new sensation Neel Akash, and evergreen brand ambassador of North East festival; Zubeen Garg, Choir from Manipur, rapper Rahul Rajkhowa, Bollywood singer Papon, Voice of India winner Pawandeep Rajan, DJ MKSHFT, DJ Shameless Mani, and many more.
 
The entry is free, and the timing will be from 11 am to 10 pm.
