This Delhi-Based Designer Does Elegant & Bespoke Ethnic Wear
Looking for ethnicwear this wedding season, but bored of the mainstream outfits? This Delhi-based designer makes uniquely designed couture collections that you won’t find anywhere else.
What Makes It Awesome
After working with Tarun Tahiliani for a little over four years, Swatti Kapoor (the owner and designer of her label — Swatti Kapoor), found her calling to weave her own story through her designs, and so, her label was born. With some of the most exclusive designs we’ve seen, her label has all kinds of clothes you may need for the wedding season—from chic wrap shirts to anarkalis and lehengas. We personally love the black and mustard chanderi anarkali seen on Aditi Rao Hydari.
Her entire collection is hand-embroidered, and we hear that from next season, her collection will also sport handwoven designs (the next collection, Autumn-Winter 2019–20, will launch in April next year). All these designs are bespoke and tailor-made for individual needs, and hence, your order may take some time. The white anarkali from her first collection, ‘Marakanda’, is still a best-selling piece. The basic collection starts at INR 5,000, and the festive collection starts at INR 25,000. Her entire collection is up on Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop, and her Instagram handle where she takes orders through DMs.
What Could Be Better
The pricing is a bit steep, but considering that it’s a bespoke ethnicwear label, we think it’s fair. So, if you’re looking for something more reasonable, you might be disappointed.
She’s open to customisation within her designs, so if you’re looking to combine a few things in your own individual style, she’d be more than happy to accommodate for your needs.
