Ten-Second Takeaway

Airy kurtas and dresses, chic saris in cotton, colourful cushion covers and the odd handbag or two, all done up in ikat prints. Head to Translate in Hauz Khas Village, if this sounds like your kind of scene.

Dress Up

Translate lures you with its summery dresses and kurtas hanging temptingly at the display window. Step inside and you’ll be “trapped” in a maze of Indonesian ikat. Whereas we’re used to the print in dark colours such as blues and reds, the dominant colour here is white.

SG9_1858Expect loose billowy tunics and dresses in mostly whites and pastels, embellished with colourful weaves. Perfect for a brunch in the sun {with umbrellas and mist fans, of course}. They also have a few in darker earthy bases, which we’re saving for evening scenes.

If you’re looking for something more traditional, it might be worth perusing their sari rack which houses a multitude of colours from bright yellow to scarlet to indigo to jet black. We personally have a soft corner for their black and white creations. Their scarves, we feel, are great gifts for your gal pals or even your mother.

Home Sweet Home

Whilst you’re replenishing your wardrobe, don’t forget your home. Translate houses a bunch of cushion covers ranging from the mini ones to the ones meant for super-sized floor cushions. And they’re SO pretty. We strongly recommend picking up a few for your home or as a housewarming gift.
