Runway Ready | Wills India Fashion Week is here!

The information in this post might be outdated

Block your fashion calendars; The Fashion Design Council is back with Wills India Fashion Week. Showcasing our favourite pioneers, notable novices and upcoming talents, WIFW will be held over five days, previewing Autumn/Winter trends for 2014 {just when you mastered Spring/Summer’s biggest trends}. WIFW is Asia’a largest fashion trade event, and besides all the dramatic glam and decadent designs, it’s also a playground for buyers from around the world to preview designers and shortlist hot favorites. Besides the runway shows, WIFW also has an exhibition running for five days, showcasing designer and accessory labels, high-end cafes and uber-luxe bars and lounges. This edition of Fashion Week will kick off with ace designer Tarun Tahiliani, while the grand finale spot is reserved for pret specialist, Namrata Joshipura. Personally, we can’t wait for all the drama, armies of press fighting for a prime photo-op, celebrity sightings and the incredible street style, straight from off the runway.

Designers to Bookmark | The opening show and grand finale will be spectacular. Besides showcasing two great designers with completely different aesthetics, the grandeur that surrounds the opening and closing shows is unparalleled. Besides the two obvious choices, we’re anticipating a fine display by revivalist Kiran Uttam Ghosh {known for her unwavering support of Indian Craft forms, which find expression in her clothes}, high-street pret princess Rimzim Dadu, ethno-grunge specialist Kallol Dutta, effortless infuser Urvashi Kaur, sportswear inspired 431-88 by Shweta Kapur, kitsch and affordable Jenjum Gadi, classic couturists Dev R Nil, and the ultimate craftsman - Anita Dongre.
