Winter wonderland

Come winters and we get super excited about warm steaks and grilled meats, so we checked out Hungry Monkey’s weekend brunch and live grill menu. First off, we must tell you that they have a large brunch menu {starters, pastas, mains, grills, desserts, drinks} and the barbecue is only a part of it, so choose wisely.

2015-11-23-12.08.01-1 Hungry Monkey's Winter Barbecue for Steak and MushroomsGrill gracious

We have always loved the Zucchini fries here so that’s what we started off with, along with the Chimichuri Dusted Charred Mushrooms and a side of Crushed Baby Potatoes, and Tomato Fondue. The mushrooms were soft and flavourful, but the fondue leaves a highly sweetened aftertaste, so, we’d recommend opting for a different sauce.

A meaty affair

The Tangy Burnt Onion and Garlic Chicken was a little slice of heaven. The strips were gorgeously grilled and the rosemary mash was perfect. We recommend the Cajun Spiced Basa only if you’re craving something overtly salty {which we weren’t}; otherwise you can choose from any one of their steaks: Polenta steak, Roasted Beetroot and Cumin Spiced Sweet Potato Steak, Red Wine and Garlic Marinated Rosemary Minute Steak, and Jamaican BBQ spiced pork chops.

Make sure you get a bite of the dessert section with the Coconut French Toast with Caramelised Pineapple {we’re going back for that one}.
