The Craftsutra is organising a wire mesh lamp-making workshop this month, and Niharika Raiput (wildlife artist and conservationist) will be guiding you through the entire process. Under her guidance, you'll learn the basics of moulding wire mesh using a nose plier, and will be able to create a wire mesh lamp inspired by carnivorous plants.
We've all read about carnivorous plants (think Venus Flytrap and the Pitcher Plant) in our junior school textbooks but how much do we really know about them? Since Niharika is also a conservationist, she'll be the best person to share insights on plants and wildlife, too.
While we're not really intrigued by plants, the pictures of these wire lamps definitely convinced us to sign up for the workshop. Go for the lamp-making skills and stay for the amount of extra knowledge you'll gain then? Plus, you'll go back home with a funky DIY lamp.
