A Wood-Fired Oven Churning Out Rotis In A Parking Lot? Only In Gurgaon

Shortcut

Behind the much-visited Sector 29 Market, there’s a parking lot and when you walk to the edge of it, you’re greeted by a massive wood-fired oven next to a stationary food van.

Bake Up

The sight of a wood-fired oven in the middle of a parking lot may strike you as odd but we love our odd discoveries the most. And Woodfired 1.0 is no exception.

We love ourselves a good thin crust wood-fired pizza and whereas you’ll find plenty of these here {we’re liking the sound of the Salami Chilli and the Jerky Cottage Cheese with caramellised onions}, it’s the wood-fired parathas and rotis which had our interests piqued.

The Khameeri Roti, straight out of the oven with a bowl of keema infused with green chillies is the star of the menu here and for good reason. If you love yourselves some roti boti, this is your dish. They’ve got a broccoli cheese stuffed paratha we’re dying to try the next time we’re here.

Olive You

We don’t expect much in terms of healthy food when it comes to the steets but Woodfired 1.0 is clearly a game changer. They cook everything in olive oil, do a roast chicken with steamed vegetables {Chicken Nirdosh} and even have a spinach-infused green rajma chawal.

They’re soon going to introduce a bamboo biryani which will be cooked in the oven too.

PS: You can also do a BYOB scene here.

#LBBTip

If you want to sample their desserts {Apple Halwa and Rum Gulab Jamun}, head here between Friday-Sunday as that’s the only time they prepare these treats.
