A Green Escape at The Woodhouse Cafe

While we're a far cry from dense greenery and the fresh smell of wood {more like cement city and clouds of dust}, there is a place that attempts to revive the former, and it is aptly named The Woodhouse Cafe.

For days in our childhood, that we spent clambering on trees, on imaginary adventures or perhaps solving crimes from our very own {make-believe} tree houses, this cafe looks to recapture the magic. The facade mimics the exact setting of a real tree house, and the inner furnishings also reflect more of the same.

Their menu consists of continental fare, and your regular array of sandwiches and coffee, to pick out a few. While the menu is nothing to write home about, they do offer flavoured hookahs and unlimited wi-fi. What we enjoy about this place, above all, is that even though it is smack in the middle of a hub of activity, you can hide yourself away from the chaos. Hide yourself away, indulge in a languid late afternoon coffee or hookah and appreciate the ambiance of the place. There is woodwork, walls lined with {artificial} grass and the overall feel of the place is calming. Zen, so to speak.

Notes in our Little Black Book |

There are always places that fulfill one criteria on our list more than others, when making a restaurant/cafe selection. The Woodhouse Cafe is one of those. Its ambiance is winning; they've modeled the space after an actual treehouse, and the result is a quaint, hidden away cafe smack in the middle of busy Delhi. The menu is standard continental fare, but they do offer free wi-fi and hookah. We recommend, for a lazy afternoon coffee.
