Fashion photographer, Martin Prihoda's (he's shot covers for GQ, Maxim and more) new venture called Chop Shop might just be a few months-old but this baby is the hottest barber shop we’ve seen. If you’re in Vagator, stop by for a shave or haircut done Chop Shop style. With bikes, coffee and a handpicked range of grooming products, it’s but a pity that it’s only for men.

What Makes It Awesome

Chop Shop is what Martin calls his passion project. Everything in this space, from the grungy garage-like feel (what with the modified bike and all) to the smell of wood, musk and tobacco, screams ‘man cave’.

The many services here range from classic to luxury with most priced between INR 800 and INR 1,500. You can opt for straight razor shaves, hot towel beard spas, haircuts or packages that combine these services (they go by names like Clooney and De Niro, yum!). But hey, when you walk in here, don’t just expect a straightforward haircut… Soak in the vibe and indulge yourself in what’s supposed to be, ‘an experience’... Much like watching the sun go down at Thalassa.

Martin has collaborated with local artists and businesses in getting customised barber chairs, the sound system and coffee beans for Chop Shop. Plus, the barber crew with three fine gentlemen has been selected based on tests and trials following recommendations from his stylist friends in Bombay.

In short, he’s been meticulous about details and sure, we love this labour of love (and beard spas).

What Could Be Better

They so far have a slick but compact set-up. With four chief barbers, they can accommodate only four customers at a time. We only wish it grew bigger.

Pro-Tip

If you’re making a trip to Vagator for this, try and make it on a Wednesday so you can end with an open-mic dinner and beer evening at Rocket Burger.
