The slightly nippy mornings, the smell of rum-soaked dry fruits from the neighbouring house and carols playing at supermarkets… If you don’t feel like Christmas already, these festivities and pop-up markets in Goa are just what you need. You know, yule just feel so merry with all the shopping, traditional feasts and Christmas music at these events. So, just take note of the dates and gear up with that Santa cap.

Line & Dot Studio XMas Market

This new-on-the-block design studio is hosting its own little Xmas pop-up on Dec 5 and 6. Make a trip to Mapusa to sample some of the studio’s handmade gifts, food and desserts. You can pick up jewellery, art prints, decor, gifts and packing paraphernalia while also enjoying the beautiful space the studio’s got to itself.

Goan Farmers Market: Christmas Edition

The Goan Farmers Market in Margao is a popular place to source organic goodness but come Christmas and they’re going an extra mile to celebrate. Go check this market out for wines, bibinca, decor, crochet, local desserts, gifts and more. They tell us they’ll have the usual stalls that the farmers market is used to but only with some extra special Christmas elements thrown in.

Winter Jam: Pop-Up Bazaar

With live music and more than 80 local brands setting shop at Winter Jam, this one seems like it’s going to be a veritable party. They’re going to be selling everything from skincare, sweet treats, accessories, decor, teas, plants, condiments, homemade liqueurs, paper products to stationery and gift boxes. Oh, and if all that shopping leaves you hungry they’ve got a live grill and Thai food by Swasdee Thai Food. Of course, the bar will stock up on beer and cocktails.

Timings: 4–10:30pm

Christmas Concert at Menezez Braganza Hall

An annual concert at Menezes Braganza Hall at Panjim, this one is just the place to soak in some merry traditional music. Make an evening of listening to The Child’s Play Chorus, with a sweet medley of cello, violin, flute and other instruments. The children’s orchestra has been training hard under the Child’s Play (India) Foundation that aims to bring the knowledge of classical music of disadvantaged kids across Goa. The passes are donation-based and can be picked up from Furtados.
