8 Bars That You Absolutely Must Visit For FIFA Screenings

The information in this post might be outdated

Goans and their football madness is just not something you want to miss, especially during the FIFA World Cup. Crazy hats, painted faces and passion for their favourite team is on full display, and there is no way you will not get caught up in the madness. Here is a list of popular places to visit, to join the fun and games, over your favourite tipple.

Cantare

Cantare in Saligao has a large projector screen showing all the matches, interspersed with music in between breaks. Flags from their favourite teams adorn the walls, and there is a definite palpable tension when Brazil Argentina or Portugal (what most Goans think of as their home team) playing. But whatever may be your favourite team, rest assured that you will get caught up in the excitement.

Firefly

Firefly in Benaulim is where all in the South part of Goa head to and catch all the action. Multiple television screens, as well as a projector screen. Plus try their in-house Cazulo Feni cocktails that they have been innovating and perfecting, and make a night of it.

Artjuna

Artjuna in Anjuna is another place that is open throughout the rains and showing all matches on a large screen. Catch some football action, as well as grab that delicious Mediterranean food, especially some of that Tzatziki with some warm Pita and settle in for the night.

Joets

Joets in Bogmalo is a great place to catch the football action, and maybe take a walk on the beach in between breaks. While there, try their multiple beers on tap and cheer for your favourite team.

House No 248

House No 248 in Sangolda is where you head to for football and tapas-style food (available at their Tierra Y Mar restaurant). A large screen, a beautiful outdoor area (don’t worry, it’s covered) and some great Ceviche, Chicken Tacos or Prawns Gambas is why we recommend this place.

Park Calangute

Love Restaurant at the Park Calangute Hotel is where all head to for the picture-perfect sunset view. Follow this up with a football match on their large screen.  Again, since this property is on the beach, you can get out and recharge your batteries with a walk on the beach.

Habanero

Habanero in Baga should definitely be on your list if you are a Mexico supporter (or not). They sure seem to have the Sombreros and Mexican colours there to make your support visual and vocal. Otherwise, just carry your own team colours, and grab some micro-brewed beers, Tex Mex food and sing Ricky Martin-style ‘Ale Ale Ale’.

Bay 15

Bay 15 near Dona Paula is one of those many spots in Goa where the football frenzy is the name of the game. This pretty location on the cliffs by the seaside is where one heads to, especially if you are a Portugal or Brazil supporter, thought you can be the odd ones out there.
