These Airbnbs across Goa can provide you with the base you need to go out exploring, or just soak up in the sun, beer in hand, and do nothing. From heritage Portuguese mansions to chic minimalist holiday homes, go and live life king size in Goa.

Villa Alina, Calangute Beach

Nothing says luxury like a six-bedroom house just off the beach with a swimming pool to boot. And Villa Alina is just that. Located off the Calangute beach, it’s fully-staffed and breakfast is on the house. The pool has the perfect view of the sunset, although The Balcony, a special spot above the verandah, comes a close second. Al fresco dining means you can soak up the balmy weather during meal time, and if you want indulgence, the house manager will organize barbecues, massages and even yoga sessions.

1Goa, Siridao Beach

This one has some serious celeb cred, what with the interiors done up by Gauri Khan. Modern, swish and very chic, 1Goa is all about taking it up a notch or two. There are four bedrooms, a rooftop swimming pool, jacuzzi, home theatre and garden. Oh, and did we mention that you have stellar views of the river as well as the vast Arabian Sea?

Luxury Villa, Mandovi River

Not quite a beach bum but still want to soak up the tropical weather of Goa? The 300-year-old Casa Britona will be perfect. The river-facing studios are dreamy and all the rooms are cosy; done up with four-poster beds, drapes and an open courtyard which houses the swimming pool. For once, we’re happy to swap out our beer in favour of a cup of tea and sip it on the landscaped garden with picket fences overlooking the river. This might just be paradise!

Colonial Mansion, South Goa

Cosy, quirky and every bit the old-school hippie Goa, head here if you’re looking to chill and then some. The rooms, three with air conditioning and two without {to let that tropical breeze in}, are done up in vibrant Portuguese tiles and ethnic Indian fabric. We love the game room with a pool table; you’re likely to extend you stay at this one, we suspect!

Josephine Villa, Mapusa

A single-storey Portuguese bungalow with a wrap-around balcony, you can pick one of the three bedrooms or opt for the opulent master bedroom which opens into the garden and swimming pool. Since it’s a bit out of town, you can count on it being uncluttered. Perfect to unwind, if you’re here for a while, do request the caretakers to set up a barbecue by the pool. Thank us later!

The Inner Temple, Moira

An open-plan kitchen, airy living room and arches across the villa make for a relaxed setting, and between the beautiful garden {with bougainvillea all around} and the patio, you wouldn’t want to leave. The three rooms, especially the large ones with king-size beds, balconies, sunshine curtains, and even a little garden, add to the charm. In fact, we might just settle here for the winter months!

Ocean View Villa, Reis Magos

Brilliant views of the Arabian Sea; check. Infinity pool; check. Two Jacuzzis; check. Snooker table; check. You get the drift, right? And you know what makes it even better? It’s located at a quiet and upmarket gated community at Reis Magos in North Goa.

Luxury Boutique Villa, Majorda Beach

With seven themed-rooms on offer, you can settle into Ballygunge, Alipore or Darjeeling. Confused? Don’t be; the rooms are named after the places in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal where the owners {siblings Charlotte and Simon Hayward} have lived. From tents, four-poster beds, teak beds and private cottages, the house has it all. Plus, verandahs, mini bars and passages filled with intriguing curios from various travels.

Summertime Luxury Villa, Calangute

The Summertime Villa is massive but manages to be cosy, thanks mostly to the wooden architecture. There’s an infinity pool that almost looks like flowing into the paddy fields, and a lounge pool in case you just want to sit and wallow. Set across two acres of space, birds, butterflies, whistling winds and buzzing bees loom around to give it some added sound effects.

Indo–Portuguese Mansion, Assagao

Located in the swish Assagao residential zone of Goa, what you get here is a slice of modern but with dollops of traditional, in terms of architecture at least. Think a massive space with a charming Indo-Portuguese home built on it, arches, courtyards, patios and interesting passage-ways leading up to five stylish bedrooms. There’s even a swimming pool with canopies so you can aimlessly lounge about.
