Charming as they were in the eighties and nineties, the cruises that now go down Mandovi River are more like being in a packed local train. But if you want to party like the rich and famous on a luxury boat, then we have found just the place to do it at.

What Is It?

Anchored some half a mile from shore in the scenic Chapora river, lies the Watermark boat. And this river unlike the Mandovi, has very few boats in it, and definitely none of the casino ships crowded around each other.

So a night out on this boat offers scenic vistas, never ending views of the Arabian Sea and none of those uncomfortable plastic chairs, but plush lounger sofas or bar stools. And you can even book this boat for private events, so next time you are the Maid of Honour having to plan your friend’s bachelorette party, ignore the regular bars and head to the Chapora river for a unique night out.

Anything Else?

Forget all those nautical terms and just head to the roof deck to catch those glorious sunsets, while sipping on your favourite cocktails as they open at 4 pm and have sun downer sessions.

With a fully-fledged bar, no drinking only beers but pretty much anything you can think of with their bartenders serving them up. Once you are a few drinks down and you want to groove, then they have a line up of DJs & artists performing regularly. Or just stay stretched out on their deck and watch the flickering lights by the banks, or of the passing fishing boats. And if you just want to have that romantic dinner, then they have a full fledged menu that we were pleasantly surprised with. From their prawns tempura, to the Malaysian chicken satay or even their fajitas with veg, chicken or seafood options, we tried them all and were quite pleased.

What Else?

It does get a little nippy in the nights these days, so do carry something or someone to keep you warm. Or then just head down to their lower deck which is partly enclosed, but with huge glass pane windows, that offer you the same beautiful view.

The Safira Resort Jetty in Morjim, is where you need to head to catch this boat. They are open every night, except Tuesdays from 4pm till 12 am. On Saturday nights, they stay open late in to the morning until some 4am. There is no entry fee either, just pay for what you eat & drink.

And with reasonably priced drinks and food, it is definitely great value for money since you get the Sunset and the views thrown in for free. They even have a Beer bucket offer, where a bucket with 6 Kingfisher beers is priced at Rs: 580. They also conduct flyboarding from this boat during the day, and have started offering a small lunch menu until 4pm. Feel like the rich and famous whilst you party the night away!

You could even just rent a water scooter from one of the rental providers along the Chapora River, park it at Watermark to grab a quick bite or a drink and zoom off again. Please keep in mind that this one shuts down during the monsoon months from June till September.
