What Makes It Awesome

Neither I'm someone who goes to Thalassa wearing designer clothes to drink sangria or click selfies while staring at the sunset for Instagram, nor do I roam around in Goan commercial beaches wearing 'I Love Goa' tees. I am someone who can be usually found on a beach that is less crowded. And as you know, Goa has many such secret locations which are usually beyond the reach of common tourists. It is exactly for these places that I love going to Goa.

Snehal is a such a spot in Goa in the heart of Morjim Gaon or village. It's the bar the locals go to have their drink. It's rightfully placed in front of a namesake wine shop which has the best of wines, and other liquors. Now, Snehal is not posh, and will definitely NOT have your choice of single malt. But you can get the same from the wine shop in front.

It is run by a married couple and usually open during the evenings till around 12ish midnight. Now the wife manages the counter while the husband runs the kitchen. Snehal sources the best fish daily from local fishermen in Morjim and therefore, in case you're early, you can surely get the best of the catch. Since its a small bar for locals, they don't have a huge variety of fish, but a few as per the consumption pattern over the week.

I have previously tried Sardines, Mackerel, King Fish, and something called the 'sweet' fish, that's what the locals call in Morjim. Since Snehal is a bar where you will get quick bites; you also get a good taste of crispy fried fish, which are ideal compliments for beer, whiskey or feni. They also serve the eggs in different ways. But I suggest you stick to the local fare fish. If a local bar can make the local Goans happy, it definitely says a lot about its taste.

What Could Be Better?

They can definitely have a better variety of liquors, but since the wine shop is just across the road, in case you don't like the IMFL {Indian-made foreign liquor} in Snehal, you can definitely buy your choice of you drink from the wine shop, come here and enjoy it with your crispy fish fry.

What's My Pro Tip?

Take a bike there as it will be easy finding the place. Use Google Maps if needed!

Anything Else?

Dress as you like, as you're only visiting the spot to taste authentic Goan dishes and also to drink!
