While cities like Mumbai, Gurgaon and Bangalore have lots of microbreweries serving varieties of beers, Goa has sadly been lacking there. But not anymore, with the opening of Goa’s first microbrewery Susegado last year, now you can get fresh beer on tap at more than 15 places across Goa & 3 varieties at that.

Susegado is derived from a Portuguese word, which means quiet or quiet life. This word has become synonymous with what Goan life is all about, so a chilled beer, a book & beach are all you need. Currently their 3 varieties are available in various bars & restaurants like Joseph's, Tierra Y Mar, Zeebop by the Sea, Palms N Sands, Airport Ferry Terminal, Habanero, Royal Enfield Garage Cafe, Black Sheep Bistro, Baba Au Rhum, as well as the Holiday Inn, Cidade de Goa & Taj Holiday Village Hotels, with more being added every week.
The most popular is Dorado, an IPA wit a strong hops character and a satisfying bitter finish. Our favourite though was the Trigo (meaning wheat in Portuguese) a Goa inspired Mango Wheat Beer, making it the perfect tropical summer beer. They even have a seasonal third variety that changes every few months, and currently they are serving the Farol ( lighthouse in Portuguese), which is a Dortmund style lager.
At Susegado, they use only quality ingredients, and entertain their yeast during it's 3 weeks of fermentation by Goa's top musicians they say. Plus Aditya Challa is their Master Brewer, who trained in Edinburgh, helmed a 1.5 million dollars worth & award winning microbrewery in Singapore called Jungle Beer, so you know the hops are in expert hands.
Follow their Facebook page to check which new places they are available at, as well as offers they may have. Currently they have a Sunday Brunch one, where for INR 600 you can drink unlimited Susegado beers at some of the outlets they are available at or maybe even a tour of the brewery with the master Brewer himself.
