North Goa Plans? You Can Stay At This Cute Poshtel Starting At INR 499!

Shortcut

The concept of a poshtel (aka posh hostel) isn’t new but it might be novel to Goa still. For the uninitiated, a poshtel is for those who like homestay/hotel-type comforts on a hostel budget. And with Beyond Nomad in Anjuna, travellers can now enjoy this facility (inside a gorgeous Indo-Portuguese house) with tariffs starting at INR 499 for a bunk bed.

What Makes It Awesome

Anjuna-Vagator together have more than 40 hostels and we were curious about what sets Beyond Nomad apart. So, to begin with, it’s not the beachy-kitschy design we’re used to seeing. Then, they're promoting this as an artist commune. And yes, they’ve got a pretty decent wifi if you’ve finally decided to embrace the life of a digital nomad.

The poshtel is the brainchild of three founders, Eashita, Zeeshan and Subhajit. Eashita and Zeeshan met at a co-working space in Bengaluru and Subhajit (originally from Kolkata), chipped in because he happened to be friends with Zeeshan and totally up with the idea of running a cool hostel space in Goa. With their pool of ideas and some intense architect hunting (they finally zeroed down on a Bengaluru guy), they were off to a rolling start.

Apart from being mindful about the old structure and integrating the new inside the Goan villa, they’ve ensured that you rest comfortably after a long day at the beach (or the bar). The wooden bunk beds will take you in, the curtains will make you feel like you’re inside a mini pod and you’ll wake up to a complimentary breakfast spread. And like we said, the rates start from INR 499 for the dorm and go up to 1k in Dec end and beginning Jan (read peak season). They’ve also got three private rooms where tariffs are between INR 1,499 (plus taxes) and INR 3,496 for the biggest double room during peak season.

They’ve also been hosting live gigs by local artists and travelling musicians for the last few weeks and have had lots of people drop by for these musical evenings. They’re even open to hosting other skill-based workshops or dedicating a space to let budding artists showcase their artworks. In short, they’re happy to collaborate with creative folks as long as they’ve got talents to share.

Pro-Tip

They’re setting up a tiny in-house cafe that will have tea, coffee and baked goodies. Think dessert jars, brownies, granola and one gluten-free option. They're looking at sourcing all this confectionery locally. So in case you know a friend whose cakes are awesome, you know who he/she can tie up with.
