Writers and musicians, rare birds, never-ending paddy fields, picture-perfect sunsets, an abundance of nature and susegad… There are many things that make the village of Saligao that little cubbyhole of solace and one of the newest additions to the village is The Caspian, a two-room BnB that’s affordable, peaceful and has a grand Iranian brekkie on offer.
The place is run by Meghna and Saed, the room rates start at INR 1,500 which is a steal considering you’ll be staying in one of Goa’s prettiest pockets, holed up in pretty rooms. Together the hosts source fresh batches of kombucha from the neighbours, brew hot and fragrant tea, make fluffy pancakes and host movie nights under starry skies. Yes, it sounds like everyone’s dream project but it’s remarkable to see how much heart and soul has gone into making this place what it is — a quaint hideaway away from the din of the beaches.
The rooms are total boho chic; a vision straight out of Pinterest. With all-white linen and house plants, you realise you don’t need much more than that and some good ol’ sunshine and good vibes to make a room come to life. There are also artworks made by Meghna and some artefacts to go with the Goan-Iranian theme. The balcao with some deck chairs and fairy lights is all dreamy and lazy and put you in vacation mood as soon as you enter. The true highlight though, has to be the terrace that sure promises some of the most beautiful sunsets in Goa and doubles up as a cafe. We promise you’ll be spending a lot of time up here drinking pots of herbal teas (or French press coffee?) or enjoying homely omelettes.
