What Makes It Awesome

Deven, an aeronautical engineer turned animal rescuer, has been actively working towards animal welfare for four years with various organisations. He has dedicated his time to animal rescue ever since he had an epiphany after rescuing his first animal — a dog called Lexie’ who he also adopted. After quitting his job last month, he rescues and fosters animals full- time now. Juggling his time between answering calls about leads on injured or neglected animals, muzzling them, getting them vaccinated and then sheltering them until they are fit enough to be adopted is what Deven’s Hope is all about.

At the shelter, there are two floors — one dedicated to the medical use, and the other with toys, treats, and an open space for the furry babies. Although this shelter has medication, injections, and an IV line, it has tie-ups with some veterinary surgeons who can attend to critical cases. These rescues are often animals with three-legs or a lot of bleeding. However, on their way to recovery, they are groomed completely. They are taken on walks thrice a day and are allowed to socialise with other animals in a play area at the shelter. Children often come to spend time with these animals as good human interaction relieves the animals of trauma.

Having rescued over 300 cats and dogs so far, Deven’s Hope has dealt with cases of distemper, parvo, and Dermotysis (diseases in dogs). These are mostly stray animals on the streets, but sometimes there are cases of abandoned pets too.  Deven’s Hope is a registered NGO today that also lets you adopt these angel faces and contribute to their healthy life. All the animals at Deven’s Hope are spayed and neutered, as he believes in the process leading to a healthier life of the animals. He does pre and post-adoption checks too to ensure the doggos and kitties are in safe hands. If you love animals just as much, you can contribute to his cause through donations of food, and money. You can sponsor for an animal and its treatment, wherein all the bills will be furnished.

Pro-Tip

He pays for the surgical and medical costs out of his pocket for as long as he can. If not, he holds fund-raisers on his Instagram handle.

You can write to him about any leads on rescue operations, or if you witness cruelty towards an animal on his e-mail (devens_hope@gmail.com) which is active 24×7, or give a new home to these rescued animals who so need your love and care. Be a part of a world free of animal cruelty, one paw at a time!
