What Makes It Awesome

Ladies, are you so done with the usual Kanchipattu sarees? Or do you want to quirk up your saree closet? Aaral — a clothing line, that specialises in handcrafted sarees has our ecstatic nod. Founded by Tejasvi, a young designer who graduated from Hamstech, this label has printed skirts, dresses and tunics too. Aaral sources its fabrics from remote villages near Warangal and Machalipatnam, handwoven by traditional weavers, which are then designed by Tejasvi.

I am fond of feminine and floral prints on cotton sarees, especially the kind that our grandmothers wore back in their time. I love how Aaral's designs resemble those old-school sarees and since it makes use of organic and natural dyes, these sarees are totally bringing 70s swag back. Largely defined by subtle prints, hand embroidery, peppy birds, checks, and polka dots, I think these are the perfect choices for acing the saree game. Plus, the Mangalagiri cotton skirts are something that I'm planning to splurge on.

The pricing range of the products is INR 2,500-4,000, depending on the fabric and in the future, this label intends to create pieces that reflect rural India. Cannot wait!
