Smart Alec - Alternative Deli has moved from Jubilee Hills to Madhapur, and we've checked it out. Meat lovers, you won't regret forgoing meat for a meal here.

What Makes It Awesome

Just in time for the weather, we started our meal with Clear Asian Soup (loaded with vegetables and pepper) and Tangy Tomato Carrot Soup (thick and awesome). Making ourselves at home in the cosy ambience, we decided to get Baked Jacket Potatoes stuffed with broccoli and cream cheese, and the Let's Mezze platter which comes with hummus, falafel, pickled veggies, and crispy lavash. The baked potatoes were soft with the ingredients complimenting perfectly well, and the platter was a fine assortment. For the mains, we've tried the Red Wedding pasta, which was surprisingly spicy and Veggie Paradise Pizza. We're definitely going back for the pizza.

We followed it up with their chocolate ice-cream (which has no cream, mind you) made from sweet potatoes and we're still gushing about how absolutely delicious it was. You have to taste it, but even then, you'd find it hard to believe that it has no sugar or cream. Don't forget to try their coffee (my goodness!), Thick Chocolate Icecream Blended Milkshake, and Blueberry Vanilla Cake.

Carnivores, the mock meat here has every bit of the texture (and taste) of meat that you love. You can Indulge in an eco-friendly, cruelty-free diet once in a while (if not for good). So, take everyone from your friends to grandma and relish healthy food without compromising on the taste. We were also mighty pleased by the fact that this cafe doesn't make use of paper.

What Could Be Better

Although the platter tasted great, the portion was too small.

Pro-Tip

The deli also sells peanut butter, coffee, feta cheese, and chocolate.
