If gender violence makes you see red, head over to Rabindra Sarovar like the Nirbhaya you are and show your support for #INeverAskForIt!

What is it?

Brought to you by Blank Noise, in promotion of their #INeverAskForIt project, comes Bring the Garment You Wore When You Experienced Sexual Violence. Rather a mouthful, this event aims to garner awareness and harness change in attitudes regarding victim blaming and shaming in instances of sexual harassment.

Blank Noise is a collective founded in 2003 by Jasmeen Patheja, which aims to transform allies and citizens into ‘Action Heroes’. With a mandate to ending sexual and gender-based violence, Blank Noise initiates participatory projects in order to enable persons to become said Action Heroes. If you’re interested in the stats, Blank Noise has been active for the past 14 years, collaborating with people in over 52 cities and towns and have dabbled with as many as 300 projects similar to Bring Your Garment.

Who is it for?

Anyone who has experienced sexual violence, allies and other interested civil society members. If sexual violence, fear politics and gender –based discrimination make you angry, you have to be there to show it.

Why Should I go?

Because, according to the National Crime Record Bureau, there were approximately 3, 27, 394 cases of crimes against women reported in 2015 itself. And if stats don’t make you care, remember that almost all of your female friends, family member and relatives have experienced sexual violence at some point and are often silent about it. So break this silence and show your support!
