Music, Poetry & Monologues: Celebrate International Women’s Day At This Frida Kahlo Tribute

The information in this post might be outdated

What Is It?

Breaker {scratch that. Destroyer} of stereotypes, Oxford is all set to celebrate Frida Kahlo, eminent artist, in ‘Frida On My Mind’, a tribute to all things Frida Kahlo. Not just incredible artwork, Frida is known for being open about sexuality and beauty standards {back when it wasn’t all the rage on Twitter!}.

Head over to Oxford Bookstore on March 8 for a bunch of fun events celebrating her incredible work. There’s going to be a couple of live performances, including music, poetry and monologues, photo-ops, and, most fun of all, a Frida lookalike contest. Oxford has had similar contests in the past and everyone takes it really seriously so make sure your costume is your DIY best!

Who Is It For?

Anyone looking to do something special this women’s day, all fans of Kahlo and everyone who wants a glimpse into the life of an incredible woman whose ideas were way ahead of her time.

Why Should I Go?

There’s also going to be an interactive session with two of the city’s most influential female social media personalities. You’ve probably heard of Karuna Ezara Parikh — model, entrepreneur, blogger, she has a bunch of cool ideas {especially about women and the city} up her sleeve that you want to hear about. The Boho Baalika, aka Mamta Sharma Das’ blog is all about kickstarting life at 30. Mom, blogger and Instagram sensation, you need to go get a taste of her good vibes.

Anything Else?

Check out more about the event on their Facebook page. Keep an eye out on the Oxford Bookstore Facebook page in general, they have a bunch of cool events through the year including literary speed meets and literature quizzes.

When: March 8.
Where: Oxford bookstore, Park Street.
