This cosy 3-room shop, stuffed to the brim with clothes, accessories and furnishings, will take care of both men and women’s closets {and homes} in style. And the prices won’t make you sweat.

First, The Saris

Inside the alleys of Hindusthan Park, lies this gem of a store, Bhumisuta. As they say, don’t judge a book by its cover. The store might look deceptively small from outside with a glass window pane decorated with some home decor items and a glass door. But once you enter it’s a shopper’s paradise because the small space is stuffed with items you can’t resist buying.

Let’s start with their sari collection, some in the popular colour blocks and fabrics that Byloom has made trendy and some in hip graphic prints, like the one I tried on in yellow and black {INR 1,500}. The graphic designs continue in some of the cottons in checks with contrast borders {like this black and red one for INR 1,750}. They have a limited but standout collection of batiks on silk and cotton. You will find eye-catching Shibori saris in silk {seriously affordable and reasonably priced at INR 3.500!}and just-about-okay Banarasi saris {INR 11,000}.

Get The Whole Caboodle

If you are looking for kurtas, they have their in-house range as well as some from handloom collectives in Gujarat, Rajasthan and the Northeast. The latter are worth picking up because the fabrics are amazing, and the embroideries fabulous.

You can pick up a stole to complement your outfit. They have them in different styles like kantha, batik, tie-n-dye and more. Check out the cream and indigo one here {again so affordable at INR 750}.

Also, look out for their small jewellery collection to find something to go with your purchases, specially the quirky copper earrings.
Not into kurtas or saris? They have a few dresses, shrugs and tops. Like this gamchha shrug for INR 1,100, a cool addition to any simple outfit you’re wearing.

If you are looming for a blouse, you may find one here. They have different styles and sizes {check out this cute little brown number in polka dots} but the range is somewhat limited.

If you like to get your clothes stitched to fit, pick up an unusual kurta fabric like this blue and pink one in cutwork. They also have an in-house tailoring outfit if you want to get an outfit stitched.

Men, You Are Sorted Too

Men, they have a good {but limited} range for you as well. Though the variety is comparatively less, we bet you’ll find something to your liking from their collection of quality, super soft cotton and linen shirts and kurtas, both in solid colours and indie prints. Summer’s coming in with a vengeance. Pick up one of their super-light mulmul fabric shirts in stripes and checks {INR 965}. We also liked the funky green and mustard print shirt {INR 999}. Jauhar coats also occupy a small space in the men’s collection.

It's In The Bag

Just when you think you are finally done with shopping and get on to the billing, you’ll get distracted by the quirky collection of bags from all over India! We fell in love with the bags from Rajasthan in eye-popping colours {INR 180 onwards}. They also have mobile bags in the same styles. What really stood out were the foldout butterfly bags in tussar silk {INR 300 for the ones with a handle in pink and green and INR 600 for the big blue one}.

Home, Sweet Home

They have a limited range of home decor items as well. You must pick up one of the colourful rugs {from INR 1,800+} and cushion covers{INR 250 onwards}  they have got from the legendary Urmul collective in Rajasthan. The curtains with apllique work will make your space stand out. The quirky handpainted bottle lamps are all the rage right now. We found this yellow and red one here for INR 2,000.

Anything Else?

What sets this store apart is the quality of the stuff they source and the reasonable prices. You must come with some time in hand and some patience and browse the nooks and crannies of the rooms. Did we mention that at the back they stock organic, chemical-free foods {indigenous rice varieties, handpounded dals, honey from Kashmir, fresh vegetables, pickles and more}? And the front room has a small selection of natural toiletries.

They have another outlet opposite Deshapriya Park {close to Tamarind restaurant}.
