Celebrate Freedom This Independence Day With A Happy Tummy

The information in this post might be outdated
It's Independence Day + Rakhi + long weekend. Enough reasons for Kolkata to embark on a gastronomic journey or to be specific host a couple food festivals across the city. While some have introduced special menu, others have designed dishes based on the theme (sprinkled with orange, white and green colours). This Independence week head to these places to fix all your hunger cravings.

JW Marriot

JW Kitchen has curated a tempting menu for Independence week and it's hard to give this a miss. From refreshing salads like Lasooni Tiranga Shimla Mirch ka Salad, Tandoori Jhinga ka Gandhraj Lemon ka Salad, Andhra Tawa Machhi  Orberakayapacheri to delicious starters like Goan Pork Pepperoni, Palak Gajar Ke Sath Murgh Ka Roll and Samundree Machhalee Ki Roll, there's whole lotta yummy options. The main course offers dishes like Angara Fish Tikka Lucknowi Lamb Nehari, Quesadilla, Black Pepper Roasted Fish, Five Spiced Marinated Pork Loin and Traditional Vegetable Tamale Pie. This time better stop counting calories and listen to your heart (or tummy we say!)

Wow! Momo

If you're a sucker for momos and have tried almost all its variants, we bet you're yet to try or hear about Tiranga Momo. This year Wow! Momo is coming with tri-coloured momos, in both veg and non-veg variants. Before you start cringing at the idea, considering you like your momos luscious and fresh, let's tell you these are super healthy, contain no artificial colors and made with natural ingredients like carrots and spinach.

Aajisai

From Tri-coloured theme mocktails, sushi to even ice cream, Aajisai in Quest Mall has taken the Independence Day theme to a whole new level. Try the refreshing Tri-colour mocktail - a perfect concoction of kiwi, apple, fresh cream and mango pulp. If you're too tempted with Japanese cuisine, order Tri-colour sushi that is a combination of salmon, cheese, mayonnaise, cucumber or asparagus roll layered with Tri-colour tempura bits or spinach and carrot. For sweet endings there's Tri-colour ice cream which is an assortment of coconut, green tea and orange basil.

This five-star hospitality address has put together diverse flavours of India, from Kashmir to Kannyakumari, this Independence weekend. From Hilsa Macher Jhol, Anjeer or Palak ke Kofta, Bhuna Mutton Curry, Lal Maas, Chicken Chettinade, Subz ki Tehri, Lyodur Taschaman, Litti Chokha, Bhareli Wangi, Prawn Koliwada Masala to Mutton Oriya Curry, Lamb ki Salli and Aloo Mule ki Thichoni, foodies will be spoilt for choices here. For sweet-tooth cravings, there's traditional options like Lobong Lotika, Chhanar Jilipi, Kesheri Chena Payesh, Mitha Samosa, Misheri Mawa and Akhrot ka Halwa.

The Parking Lot

To honour India's 72 years of Independence, The Parking Lot will offer Fudging Awesome Brownies for just INR 72. Choose from flavours like blonde, coconut, nutella and oreo.
