How many times have you seen pictures of a concert playing at the Central Park in New York? And wished our city would do the same? Well, your wish has been granted. A renowned Italian orchestra — Cameristi della Scala — will be performing at the majestic Victoria Memorial on Friday!

What Is It?

This is a concert by a world-renowned, 11-member chamber orchestra from Italy at Victoria Memorial. How cool is that?

Why Should I Go?

Because this is a chance to listen to one of the top chamber orchestras in the world. And that too in a historic, vintage-feel venue — the Victoria Memorial. We are getting goosebumps just thinking about it!

Here’s some interesting information about the orchestra called Cameristi della Scala — it was  founded in 1982 by the musicians of the legendary Milan orchestra of Teatro alla Scala di Milano. The orchestra has a unique identity in which they regularly perform in the formation with and without a conductor. The core repertoire includes many masterpieces written for chamber orchestra from the 18th century to the present day, as well as works by the lesser known Italian composers.

Cameristi della Scala often features the section leaders of the famous La Scala orchestra as soloists as well as performs with many well- known instrumentalists and opera singers. Significant artistic influence from celebrated great conductors of the past and present working at Teatro alla Scala contributed to the character and the shape of Cameristi’s musical phrasing blended with distinct Italian sound.

Tell Me More

They have a history of performing at many prestigious venues, concert halls and historic places throughout the world. Last year they played at the Lisinski Theatre in Zagreb.  Last October, Cameristi performed in New York at the UN auditorium celebrating the 60th anniversary of Italy in the UN. This will be their first tour in India, and we are so excited that Kolkata will get to see them! Later they are headed to Tunisia, Zürich, and to the Beethovenfest in Bonn, and the closing concert of Variations Musicales de Tannay in Switzerland.
