This lesser-known town located in the Kalimpong district is known for its cinchona plantations, the barks of which are used to extract a medicinal drug used to treat malaria. It is also known for Rabindra Bhavan, Rabindranath Tagore’s summer residence that has now been turned into a museum comprising original artworks, handwritten poems and verses as well as the mahogany desk and bed used by the Nobel laureate. Also, spot 150 varieties of orchids at the Mungpoo Cymbidium Orchid Park and visit the mesmerising Kalijhora Waterfall that falls from a height of 550 metres to meet the Teesta River.
