Music Shows, Art Events, Food Walks: Here's What To Do This Weekend

There’s a long weekend coming right up and planning ahead for it is an absolute must. Here’s our list for a quick reference to jazz up your weekend itinerary.

Take A Walk

We love to save our weekends for a good walk exploring the city. If you like exploring too then join The Foodie’s Retreat for a street food walk to College Street on Saturday (check here). On the same day you can also join the Heritage Walk Calcutta for a walk to the South Park Street Cemetery (book here). If you are a night owl, join the Kolkata Explorers to explore the city at midnight by bus and also on the river (check here). On Sunday join Sahapedia and Let Us Go for a walk to explore Tollygunge (check here). You could also join Let Us Go on Sunday for a Buddhist Heritage Tour in the morning (see here). Or Heritage Walk Calcutta for a walk to the oldest Chinatown in India (look here).

Yoga Affair

Weekdays are as busy as they can get and weekends seem more promising for a meditative session of good yoga. This weekend join Mindbodysoul for a three hour long extensive yoga workshop at Swabhumi where multiple different forms of yoga will be practised and taught. Check here for more deets.

Catch these Movie Screenings

Besides the mainstream one, weekends are a good time to catch movies from around the world. Be at the Birla Academy of Art & Culture and catch the documentary film Sculptor of Music on Friday (check here). Next day, go to Cafe Kabira on Saturday afternoon to catch the screening of four independent short films and chat up with the director (look here). Head to the American Centre on this Sunday to catch the Pride Month movie of the week The Kids Are All Right (check here).

Pick Some Art

This weekend we have some fantastic art exhibitions lined up around our K-town. If you’re the sort that appreciates good art, definitely attend the Art Beyond Borders exhibition that runs through the weekend (look here) or head to Artsy Cafe and check out the charitable art exhibition there (check here).

Teminal_11 always has something new and interesting on their events menu almost every week. This weekend they are hosting a pop-up summer T-shirt sale at their cafe. Musically Yours

This weekend has some wonderful music concerts lined up. The Baba Lo-fi Band will be there to charm you with their music at the Alliance Francaise (look here). You could also join the Whale In The Pond at The Bigger Parklife this weekend for a two-day acoustic fest at Jodhpur Park (look up here) or go to Artsy for a beautiful evening of Balkan music with Sanjeeta Bhattacharya on Saturday (check here). Rupam Islam on the other hand will be belting out his rock numbers at the Nazrul Manch on Sunday evening (check here).

    Set The Mood With Club Nights

    Weekends are here again, and so are the fantastic club nights. Start it off at Pour House as it celebrates its second anniversary through the week. Get your drinks for INR 2 this Friday (check here) and groove to DJ Syrah and DJ Sundeep this weekend at Pour House. Alternately, head to The Jam at Vault to catch singer Sanjeeta Bhattachaya go live (check here) or be at Monkey Bar to hear Lady M live (look here).
