Next time you are around in Golf Green-Bijoygarh area, hit up Beresta. The place looks tiny but the food packs a punch with juicy rolls, kebabs, and even mutton ghugni! Best of all? Portions are generous and prices are pocket-friendly.

What Makes It Awesome

Sometimes all that will truly fill your belly is a big, fat roll and Beresta really do stuff theirs! We ordered a galawti kebab roll and we are happy to report that the mince was soft and laced with that lovely fragrance that galawtis have. The roti was not oily. You can also order a plate of galawti kebabs (with four pieces). Their menu lists Scotch eggs (or as the Bangalis call it - ‘dimer devil’). You get a mince chop packed with meat and half a boiled egg in the centre. The Chingri Pulao made with prawns will leave you licking your fingers. And the fragrant mutton ghugni is perfect with one of their flaky parathas. You must try the fish patishapta made with fresh bhetki. If you are looking for something substantial, order the pulao with kosha mutton or chicken or the keema curry with paratha.

Mostly everything is non-veg here, the only nod to vegetarians is the veg pulao.

Incidentally, we were told by the soft spoken, bespectacled middle-aged man sitting behind the counter that the name Beresta alludes to the side of fried onions that you get with dishes from the Middle East.

The kiosk, located close to Denzong Kitchen in Bijoygarh, is open from 5pm to 11pm, except on Thursdays.
