What Makes It Awesome?

The Double Decker Living Root Bridge, the only one of its kind in the world, this is the beauty that drew us to the mesmerizing state of Meghalaya!

A grueling trek of 3,000 plus steep steps, across narrow suspended bridges over rivers, through sacred groves of trees and over boulders between rivers, led us to this amazing secret in the forests of the great Khasi hills, filled with fish and butterflies of the kinds you could never imagine!

What's My Pro Tip?

You pass three mountains with some clusters of houses in each one. You may find bottled water here. Carry enough water and some biscuits. Change of clothes in case you want to dip into the natural pool. Wear full clothing as you will be passing thick forests. People with vertigo or fear of heights may want to avoid as the bridges high over the river can make anyone feel a bit dizzy.

Anything Else?

There is very little accommodations available. We stayed at Cafe Cherrapunji {tent}, which was a good option. Other places worth visiting in Cherrapunji {Sohra} are the innumerable waterfalls and caves. Local food is delicious, a non-vegetarian's delight. Monsoons are the best time to visit.
