What's Happening

This coming week we're skipping everything else and making Victoria our daily spot. The much-awaited Tata Steel Kolkata Literary Meet (TSKLM) is coming back and the line up iincludes a week-long extravaganza of book releases, readings, author meets, talks, award ceremony and performances.

The eighth edition will have acclaimed authors like Andre Aciman (of the famed Call Me By Your Name), Yann Martel (of Life of Pi), Markus Zusak, Tabish Khair, Aatish Taseer, Ruskin Bond, and Venki Ramakrishnan to historians like Simon Sebag Montefiore, and Ramachandra Guha.

Set in the backdrop of Victoria Memorial (like every year), we are definitely attending the launch of Kaifiyat Azmi's poetry collection on love and women in translation. Another must-attend is Andre Aciman, Vanessu Hu, Vu Tran and Leonara Miano's conversation with Sandip Roy on how immigration, xenophobia and nationalism play out in today's fiction.

Also, on the list are theatrical and musical performances by renowned artists. Award winning Welsh dance theatre group is coming down to perform Caitlin at the Goethe Institut. Pankaj Kappor and Supriya Pathak's play Dreamz- Sahar will be on our calendars. This aside, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and Rekha Bhardwaj will also be performing live at Victoria Memorial.

This year, the TSKLM will also feature a children's session with workshops, performances, storytelling sessions and author meets.
