Thengal House was made in 1920 by Rai Bahadur Siva Prasad Barooah and saw the launch of the first Assamese daily, ‘Dainik Batori’. Now renovated into the Thengal Manor, it is the perfect place for unwinding. They have four double deluxe and one single superior room, furnished with dressing areas, bathrooms and even fireplaces! What could possibly be fancier than that? Replenish yourself amidst historic opulence and go on tea tours – guides will show you around plantations and how tea leaves are plucked and processed. Make sure to taste chef Bipul Baruah’s preparations, they’ll take your taste buds on a heavenly ride through the flavours of Assam. It’s about INR 6,500 upwards per night.
