This Pujo, You Can Taste Rare Fish Delicacies At These Places In Kolkata

The information in this post might be outdated

Here's one more reason to brave the crowds and chaos this year. The State Fisheries Development Corporation (SFCD) has lined up a variety of traditional, heirloom fish dishes in pandals around the city.

What Makes It Awesome

If you are someone who loves fish and seafood, you will have a great time this Pujo. From Magur Macher Tok of Sarbamangala Temple to Shol Pora of Kanakdurga Shrine, SFDC will be serving up special fish items from  traditional pujos of zamindari houses in five of its restaurants. The menu for the bhog at some traditional pujos will also be part of this. You can hit up the restaurants at Nalban Food Park, Nabanna, Eco Park, Bidhan Sishu Udyan in Ultadanga and in front of Nicco Park if you want to sample the dishes (served in kansa (bell metal) or terracotta plates. You can also get these at stalls set up by SFDC at 23 Durga Pujo pandals in the city (including Hazra Park, Kalighat Milan Sangha, Singhi Park, Hindustan Park, Jagat Mukherjee Park, Sovabazar, Tala Sarbojonin, and Nalin Sarkar Street)

Pro Tip

Look out for dishes made of Boroli fish - it is a delicious fish found in clear streams in North Bengal foothills.
