Bookmark These Unique Pandals For A Memorable Pujo Experience

The information in this post might be outdated

Pujo is here and we can't contain our excitement. Pandal hopping is an indispensable part of Durga Puja and so to ease you of all the extra scouting, we have curated a list of uniquely themed pandals that you must check out this year!

Santosh Mitra Square

This north Kolkata Pujo is grand and they know how to grab headlines. Remember the year when they created a replica of the Buckingham Palace? Well this year they are coming up with a bigger surprise with a 13ft Durga idol made of 50kg gold! Yes, you heard that right. The idol will be placed inside the pandal that will be a replica of Seeshmahal, a famous fort in Jaipur. Now that will indeed be a sight to behold and you better not miss it.

Kashi Bose Lane

The Chennai water crisis was one of the biggest news this year. Keeping this in mind, Kashi Bose Lane is going to create a world without water. And to symbolise this theme, they have created a ship without water to sail on, dried up wells and civilisations on the bank of dried up rivers. Scary, when we come to think of it, but still would love to take a look.

Kumortuli Park

Kumortuli Park has chosen a theme which is out of this world (literally!). Because they are trying to create a world of aliens. They believe aliens are far superior than humans and want to showcase the art of this world to these extra-terrestrial creatures. Fascinating as it sounds, the kids are going to thoroughly enjoy visiting this pandal.

Mitali Kankurgachi

Stepping on their 83rd year, Mitali Club in Kankurgachhi is designing their pandal on the theme of disguise. Named, 'Chhoddobesh', they are going to showcase an ancient art and craft technique belonging to Kushmundi village in south Dinajpur, called Gomira Mukha Nach. Expect a replica of the 300-year-old tradition of Gomira wooden masks adorning the entire pandal.

25 Pally

Khidirpur's 25 Pally is one of the oldest and most famous pujos of Kolkata, and it is helmed by ace artist Sanatan Dinda. Picturing the theme of 'jal sankat'  (water crisis), the organisers are going to use elements such as thermocol, plastic bottles, microwave oven radiators, among others, to portray this representation.

Rani Rashmoni Bagan Kishore Sangha

Beliaghata’s, Rani Rashmoni Bagan Kishore Sangha is celebrating its 68th year. And to mark this occasion, this time the theme of the pandal is an 80-feet high Titanic ship. Visitors will have to reach the porch (mandap) through the ship. The interiors have been made keeping in mind an old legendary temple of Rajasthan. We are talking serious grandeur here!
