Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is a very popular tiger reserve, tucked away in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. One of the oldest national parks in India, Tadoba is part of India’s 41 ‘Project Tiger’ reserves – supporting and preserving the wildlife habitat of tigers and other wildlife creatures.

What Makes It Awesome

Tadoba reserve is known for its unique eco-system of hosting a variety of flora and fauna. The most unique bit, however, we think are the tigers that you may chance upon whilst on your safari. The Tadoba Reserve has over 100 tigers and almost 300 species of birds – a completely novel experience for city dwellers like us.

Being on the safari is a thrilling experience altogether. If you’re lucky enough (which people generally are), you get to see Indian foxes, hares, sloth bears or even the magnificent and the fastest animal on this planet, leopard. The safari has two slots, one happens in the morning between 6 am and 11 am, and then in the afternoon, from 2.30pm to 6.30pm. All safaris are organised by the Forest Department of Maharasthra along with their trained guides, so make sure to carry your identity proof on you.

Anyone who’s looking for a luxurious stay at Tadoba, we recommend the Bamboo Forest Safari – for its gorgeous and quiet villas, over-indulgent buffet-like spread and other activities like the nature walk, spa, cycling and even star gazing at night. All of the lodges at the Bamboo safari lodge are eco-friendly, made from wood, and some even offer a breathtaking lakeside view, and an open-sky bathtub.
